Request Resources/Allocation on RCDC Clusters

An allocation is a quantity of computing time and storage resources that are granted to a principal investigator (PI). To apply for a PI account please refer to Request Account.

The basic unit of computational resources is the Service Unit (SU), which represents the use of one CPU core for one hour on the  HPC clusters. Allocations are intended to support researchers conducting specific research projects and are granted for a period of one year. Dedicated resources obtained through the Cluster Partnership Program (Condo Model) are not subject to this allocation policy.

The HPE DSI allocation process assumes that tenure-track and tenured applicants already have Cougarnet credentials (i.e., an email address ending in @central.uh.edu or @cougarnet.uh.edu). Applicants without Cougarnet credentials—such as tenure-track or tenured faculty from non–main campus UH locations (e.g., UH Clear Lake, UH Sugar Land, UH Katy, UH Downtown)—must first apply for sponsorship to obtain Cougarnet credentials by completing the form available at: https://secure.hpedsi.uh.edu/machform/view.php?id=98447.

It may take up to a week to process your request.

Please allow extra time if your request is for more than 250,000 SUs, because such cases require approval from the Director of HPE DSI.
