UHCOP Graduate Jieni Li Joins Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes and Policy Faculty
October 17 — The University of Houston College of Pharmacy has welcomed alumna Jieni Li, Ph.D. (’24), as a research assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes & Policy (PHOP).
Li has worked as a postdoctoral fellow at UHCOP since her graduation in May from the college’s Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences program, with a PHOP concentration. She previously earned a master of public health from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Li’s dissertation focused on multiple sclerosis (MS) treatment options that evaluated the effectiveness and safety of disease-modifying therapies using real-world data.
Li has authored or co-authored nearly 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders, Pharmacotherapy, BMC Medical Research Methodology, and the Journal of Managed Care and Specialty Pharmacy.
During her time as a student, Li served as president of the UHCOP Chapter of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) and was appointed to the ISPOR Student Network Committee Survey and Evaluation Committee. In addition, she was named the college’s 2024 PHOP Graduate Student Excellence Award recipient, Outstanding TED Talk in Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes Research award recipient at the 2022 Lokhandwala Lecture and Research Convocation, and a finalist in the 2021 Graduation Research Showcase 3MT Competition.
Li also has presented or contributed to more than 20 podium or poster presentations, including the top poster presentation at the 2024 Geriatric Medication Safety Symposium in April, two "Top 5% Poster" and oral presentations at ISPOR meetings in 2023 and 2022, and "Silver Ribbon" poster award at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Nexus meeting in 2020.
Li has served as an abstract reviewer for meetings of the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE), AMCP, and ISPOR. She currently serves as a journal referee for such publications as Digital Health, PLOS One, and the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy.
