SSHP Chapter Earns Finalist Recognition for Practice Advancement Initiative Video
February 19 — UH College of Pharmacy's Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP) Chapter was named one of two national finalists in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Practice Advancement Initiative Video Competition.
The Practice Advancement Initiative (PAI) is ASHP's national campaign that advocates for advancing the role of pharmacists on the health care team. According to ASHP, the five pillars of PAI — care team integration, technology, leadership in medication use, leveraging pharmacy technicians, and pharmacist credentialing and training — empower pharmacists to take a greater responsibility for patient outcomes and will be vital to pharmacy careers in the coming years.
The video, which publicly debuted at the 2019 ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in December 2019 in New Orleans and recently was featured on the ASHP website, can be viewed on YouTube.
The chapter also received an Honorable Mention in the 2018-19 Outstanding Practice Advancement Initiative Program Award competition for the chapter's PAI Week activities in February 2019.
