UHCOP's Class of 2018 Pharm.D. Graduates Claim Highest First-time Pass Rate in Texas on NAPLEX Licensure Exam

March 26 — UHCOP graduates have done it again: For the second consecutive year, graduates of the Pharm.D. profressional degree program at UHCOP have achieved the highest pass rate in Texas among first-time test takers on the national licensure exam required to practice pharmacy in the U.S.

According to data released this month by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), 97.39 percent of the 115 graduates in UHCOP's Class of 2018 passed the North American Pharmacy Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) on the first attempt.

The national NAPLEX first-time pass rate for all graduates from pharmacy colleges and schools accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education in 2018 is 89.46 percent.

The 250-question NAPLEX measures a candidate’s knowledge of the practice of pharmacy, and one of the components of professional pharmacy competency in licensure consideration by boards of pharmacy in the U.S.

"These results reflect not only the seriousness with which our students take their education and professional duty to prepare themselves to practice the highest level of patient care, but also the commitment of our faculty, staff, preceptors, alumni and donors to providing a challenging, but supportive, learning environment for our students," said UHCOP Dean F.
