The School of Art at the University of Houston prepares artists, designers and scholars to navigate a world where visual literacy, critical thinking, and problem solving are essential. Our Tier One faculty collaborate with the city’s arts institutions and the broader Houston community to form an expanded classroom where students reimagine the potentials of creative practice. Through individual inquiry and intensive research, students build technical, conceptual, analytical and critical skills; innovate and experiment across media; and develop meaningful relationships with their colleagues. UH School of Art graduates are integral members of their communities, demonstrating that art, design, and art history have the power to positively shape our world.
