The University of Houston is an eligible employer for the U.S. Department of Education’s Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. The PSLF Program aims to forgive the remaining balance on direct student loans under specific circumstances. To qualify, individuals must meet the following criteria:

• Complete 120 qualifying monthly payments under an accepted repayment plan.
• Make payments while employed full-time by an eligible employer.

Once these conditions are fulfilled, employees can submit their completed PSLF Form to Human Resources for employment certification. This form can be sent digitally via the U.S. Department of Education’s PSLF Help Tool or manually using the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Certification & Application. Requests for PSLF authorization should be directed to the Human Resources Service Center at hrsc@uh.edu.
