Summer 2023

• Student Madeleine Allman has received an F31 from the National Institutes of Health entitled, “Implementation and scale-up of a caregiver intervention.” Madeleine is advised by Dr. Sharp.
• Dr. Zvolensky received an R01 from the National Cancer Institute entitled, “Community-based Smoking Cessation Treatment for Adults with High Anxiety Sensitivity.”
• Dr. Venta’s research was included in a Houston Press article on well-being in the context of Mexico – Texas border incidents (https://www.houstonpress.com/news/critics-attack-gov-abbotts-texas-border-security-1614737).

Spring 2023

• Student Jasmin Brooks received a $20,000 Scholar Award from the Philanthropic Educational Organization Foundation. Jasmin is advised by Dr. Rheeda Walker.
• Dr. Gallagher was featured in a Washington Post piece about the psychological aspects of hope (https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/03/30/amanda-ripley-hope-news/).
• Two UH Clinical Faculty members were featured in articles published in the New York Times. Dr. Walker was featured in an article on suicide risk (https://www.nytimes.com/article/suicide-risk-signs.html), while Dr. Alfano was featured in an article on sleep and anxiety (https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/23/well/mind/anxiety-night-sleep.html).
• Congratulations to all 10 Clinical Psychology students who successfully matched to internship this year!!!
