A Night at the Museum featuring Mathematical Neuroscience
Kresimir Josic and Zachary Kilpatrick gave an interactive presentation on perceptual
rivalry at a recent NSM Culture and Science Series event: "A Night at the Museum"
held at the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land. Perceptual rivalry occurs
when perception alternates between multiple interpretations of a scene. Guests were
given 3D glasses and asked to view several ambiguous images, to experience the phenomenon
first hand. Josic and Kilpatrick are currently working with Yunjiao Wang (TSU) and
Haluk Ogmen (ECE at UH), performing experiments and developing stochastic models to
understand the dynamics of the alternation process
