Academic Advising is the process of discussing majors, selecting classes and building a roadmap for academic success that occurs between an advisor and a student.

Center for Student Empowerment
The Center for Student Empowerment (CSE) provides opportunities for the university's diverse student population by preventing minor obstacles from becoming major setbacks to degree achievement. The services that CSE offers have been strategically chosen to develop CSE students into well trained career professionals.

Challenger Program
The Challenger Program is a formally federally funded “Student Support Services” TRIO Project funded by the Department of Education. The Challenger Program is now funded under Student Success Services. Established at the University of Houston in 1987, this program was designed to assist students who are primarily low-income and/or first generation college students to complete their education at the University of Houston. Student participants come from an array of backgrounds that cut across all ethnical/racial, gender and socio-economic boundaries.

Honors College
The Honors College provides a supportive small-college environment within a great metropolitan university. Through a challenging curriculum, students learn the skills they need for academic and professional success.

Exploratory Studies
Exploratory Studies is a short-term preparatory major that will give you time to you ponder your interests, consider your options, make confident, informed career decisions, and complete your prerequisite preparation for the major of your choice. Exploratory Studies intentionally integrates academic support with career counseling. We give you time and space within a structure of support and knowledge and forward momentum.

Testing Services
The mission of University Testing Services(UTS) is to provide comprehensive testing and assessment services. These services include administration of admission, placement, credit by exam, psychological batteries, correspondence examinations from other universities, and professional certification and licensing examinations.

Writing Center
The Writing Center offers one-on-one consultations in which our trained Writing Consultants assist students with various types of writing appointment base only.
